13th Tac Ftr Squadron/MiG-Killer editions (2)

Heads up, all McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II fans!
Warbird Aviation Art proudly offers two very special, extremely limited editions featuring the 13 th Tactical Fighter Squadron’s Vietnam War insignia hand-painted on actual F-4 aluminum, with each piece co-signed by famed “Panther Pack” MiG killers Dan Cherry and Fred Olmsted.
On April 16, 1972, Capt. Olmsted, with one MiG-21 to his credit, led a four-ship of F-4D Phantoms, call-sign “Basco”, out of Udorn Air Force Base on a MIGCAP mission over North Vietnam. His friend, Major Dan Cherry, led the second element. Somewhere near Hoa Binh, they engaged what turned out to be four Mig-21’s attempting to spring a trap on the Americans. But Basco Flight would have none of it. Overcoming persistent missile malfunctions, by the time the epic dogfight was over, within a minute of each other Olmsted had scored his second “Red Star” victory and Cherry his first – a great day for the Panther Pack and the U.S. Air Force. One edition of 15 features the “Panther Pack” insignia and three red stars representing Cherry’s one and Olmsted’s two MiG victories. $6,000 each plus shipping.
The second, a similar edition of only 5, is presented on larger pieces and has the addition of “Mig-21” stenciled across each of the 3 red stars. $6,500 each plus shipping.
Both editions are co-signed with gold ink, numbered, and include the engraved brass I.D plaque, all mounted in a Peruvian Walnut shadow box frame. Please confirm which edition you seek when ordering.
As with all such autographed aluminum editions from Warbird Aviation Art, each completed panel comes with a letter-of-provenance from the artist and reprints of photos taken at the signing. Included is a diagram showing from where on the F-4 the pieces were derived.
